The next stage was to use some texture paint, or in this case sheet rock plaster, on the pyramid, the steps and sides of the structure. I figured these were the areas that would have had the most build up of detritus and other refuse over the millennia, plus the texture paint helped hide the bigger gaps.

When the texture paint was dry, I flocked the pyramid's base with sand and then added more sand to the structure's sides and steps.

Once the sand was dry, it was time to paint the pyramid. To start with, I undercoated the building with black paint. Before I went any further, I took a quick look at the Necron terrain in the Codex. All the buildings featured had a green sheen to them and so to achieve this effect, I lightly sprayed the pyramid with Dark Angels Green Spray paint. I then followed this with a drybrush of Dark Angels Green, but instead of straight up and down drybrush motion, I used sweeping circular motions to ensure I caught the corners of the structure.

The sand was painted in a series of layered drybrush colours, starting with Snakebite Leather, then Bubonic Brown and finishing with Bleached Bone.

For a final highlight I went over the structure again and drybrushed it lightly with Camo Green, emphasising areas like the Necron icon and the pyramid corners. With the final highlight added the model was complete and ready to be battled over.

The Necron pyramid was a quick, simple terrain piece to make and does look great on your battlefield. Build a couple of Rick's obelisk, add them to the pyramid and you have a fantastic start to your own Necron battlefield.
